Comments...
Yes, this is St. Thomas Church, Adams, with the steeple of Notre Dame in the background....when there were three pastors and three curates...six priests in that town....now there is one priest who is Pastor of three parishes...North Adams as of 8/1/05 went from 11 priests 60 years ago for five parishes to one priest for the entire city. Not to mention the five churches, five rectories where the priests lived, three elementary schools, one high school, five convents, most of which will be up for sale.

IN THE 50'S ST. FRANCIS WAS BREATHTAKING, A FEW YEARS AGO,I WENT THERE FOR A FUNERAL AND SADDENED TO SEE HOW SHABBY IT HAD BECOME. THE PRIEST HOME ON EAGLE STREET WAS A BEAUTIFUL RESIDENCE, THERE WERE ALWAYS PRIESTS IN THE YARD...A WONDERFUL MEMORY EVEN FOR A NON CATHOLIC LIKE ME.
