These jumping off points were unofficially known as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd...1st being a little shelf just big enough to fit your heels on and push off. A large pointed rock on the other side of the falls (not in picture) was known as "the point," and a large flat rock on top of the point and further back than it is now, was named "table rock." I remember that as kids, anyone who could dive off "table rock" was considered a hero, because you had to clear both "the point" and the ledges underneath! Can you tell the "Bellevue Falls" was one of my favorite childhood summer hang-outs?
