Russ has not been given credit for the great amount of skill, effort and dedication that he gave to the sport of baseball and helped put North Adams on the map. I know Russ, I have watched him pick people off. He truly was a remarkable athlete for the level of managment and training that was given to him by the so called professionals. He really trained himself. He had no qualified sparring partners. Kudos to Russ Gilman. Jack, of North Adams

I believe the game was against St. Joseph's. I remember this picture from the sport's page in the Transcript. I believe I have a copy sent to me after it appeared in the paper.

who is the mystical jack of na? were you on drugs when you wrote your comments? na was already on the map long before russ, he was at best a average ball player who was loved by his coach tom magrath.jeff noel bobby gage paul lacrosse were the back bone of the 1970 drury highbaseball team i know because i was on that team. the kid on 3rd was tom kately tell him the play is not going his way.
