|  Comments... In the forties my aunt lived on Mill Street in North Adams. This, of course, was before the flood control program. When we had our spring thaws, the Hoosic River overflowed its banks and flooded places like Mill Street, River Street and many others. During one of these floods, I had spent the night with my aunt and in the morning had to be carried from the house to the upper main road just as these two children are.
